A Prayer for Veterans Day

Father, we could never thank our military men and women enough for their courageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people. Yet today we lift up our voices to express gratefulness and honor to these military troops both from the past and present. Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank and love them better. Keep and protect these heroes and their families, in the powerful name of Jesus.

Prayer for October, 2008

Father, keep our servicemen and women physically safe and health, and guard them from the evil one. Help them resist all temptation, be a Shield around them, and guard them as the apple of Your eye. In the powerful name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Prayer for August, 2008

Father, moms and dads, wives and children are worried as their loved ones are re-deploying or are in the terror zone of Iraq or Afganistan for year-long duty. God of all comfort, please comfort their hearts, wrap your love around them like a warm quilt, and let them know that they can come to your throne of grace any time, day or night, to pray for their soldier. Send your angels around every one of our servicemen and women, and protect them with your hand upon them. In Christ’s name, amen.

A Prayer for Families

Father, may the families of our military personnel—their spouses, children, and parents—cast all their cares and burdens upon You. Instead of being worried or filled with anxiety, may they pray about everything that concerns them and everything that concerns their soldiers’ life and deployment. As You promised, then cause Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Grant all our military troops this same peace, and let them feel the love we have for them even though we are far apart.

A Prayer for December, 2007

Lord, I pray that you will be our servicemen and women’s refuge and strength, a very present help in any trouble or challenge, and therefore, they will not fear. Jesus, you said, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” May our troops seek You, know You, and recognize that You are in their very midst. Thank You that we can be confident that You are able to keep what we have committed to You until that Day.

(Ps. 46:1-2, Jer. 29: 12-13, Matt. 18:19-20. 2 Tim. 1:12)

A Prayer for our Troops

Your goodness is so great!
You have stored up great blessings
 for those who honor you.
You have done so much for those who come to You for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
You hide them in the shelter of Your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. …
So be strong and take courage, all you who put your hope in the Lord.
—Psalm 31:19-20, 24

Father, truly Your goodness is so great and You have done so much for those who come to You for protection and You bless them before the watching world. We ask You today to hide our troops in the shelter of Your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. May our military men and women and their families be strong and take courage as they put their hope in you, Lord. In Christ’s name, amen.
